Just got back from the eXp Top Producers Mastermind in New Orleans, and this one hit different. This is the who's who of all real estate agents at one of the largest companies in the world. In order to qualify you need to be in the top 250 agents or teams in the entire company out of over 80,000. I have fortunately qualified for every single one of these and these are some of my favorite meetings of the year. The conversations in that room are already shaping how we're going to operate across the Bakken for the rest of the year
Here's the thing about masterminds at this level. You're sitting in a room with some of the highest-producing agents and brokers in North America. Teams closing billions in volume. People building teams across multiple states. People who've been through every market cycle and have the systems to prove it. When that room starts talking, you listen. And the takeaways aren't theoretical. They translate directly to how we serve buyers, sellers, and investors back home.
Here's what came out of New Orleans and what it means for Western North Dakota.
The Headline: eXp Just Purchased NextHome!
The biggest news from the week was eXp Realty's acquisition of one of the best franchises in America, NextHome. I had the chance to be on the same flight as James Dwiggins, Founder and Co-CEO of NextHome, on the flight in. Last-minute upgrade, total coincidence. We ended up connecting and it was one of those conversations that confirms you're in the right place at the right time.
James is one of the sharpest minds in real estate today. BAM, one of the best real estate authorities said that he would be a first-round pick of all of the real estate CEOs out there. With him teaming up with Leo, that dynamic duo of leadership will take us to new levels that we haven't even thought about. James is authentic, deeply experienced, and laser-focused on building something that actually serves agents and consumers. He is a third-generation real estate broker and his grandfather was one of the top agents in the country. What he's bringing to eXp through NextHome is going to create opportunities the industry hasn't seen before. Two models under one umbrella. More flexibility. More options for agents, teams, and brokers to build businesses that fit their vision.
For clients in Williston, Watford City, and Dickinson, the practical impact is simple. Broader networks. Broader exposure. Broader reach for your listing or your search.
Ticker Symbol Officially Changed From EXPI to AGNT
Last week, the stock ticker officially changed from EXPI to AGNT. That's not a cosmetic move. It's a statement. An agent-centric company built by agents, for agents. Every decision, every model expansion, every investment ties back to that.
If you're a current eXp producer or coming over from NextHome, this is the moment to pay attention. Add AGNT to your portfolio if you want to benefit from this dynamic partnership and are looking to capture future real estate performance.
The Hot Topics in the Room
A few themes dominated the week, and every one of them has implications for how real estate gets done in our market.
AI is no longer optional. The agents and teams leaning into AI tools right now are pulling ahead fast. Pricing analysis, buyer behavior tracking, marketing automation, transaction management. The gap between agents using AI well and agents ignoring it is widening every month. For sellers and buyers in the Bakken, this matters because the agent representing you is either using these tools to win for you or falling behind the competition.
Clear cooperation is changing how sellers maximize value. The way listings get exposed, marketed, and negotiated is evolving. The teams adapting to these shifts are positioning their sellers to capture more, not less. If your listing strategy is still a sign in the yard and an MLS entry, you're leaving money on the table.
Stronger industry partnerships benefit consumers. When the best minds in real estate openly share systems, strategies, and ideas, the entire industry levels up. That translates to better service, better outcomes, and better representation at the closing table.
Agent-first environments win. The companies investing in their agents, their training, and their tools are the ones attracting top talent. Top talent serves clients better. It's a simple equation, and it's the reason eXp continues to attract the people it does.
Why Being in the Right Room Matters:
One thing stood out all week. The power of being in the right room. Some of the best minds in real estate openly sharing ideas, collaborating, and helping each other grow. No ego. No gatekeeping. Just iron sharpening iron.
That's not common in this industry. A lot of agents operate in silos. They protect their playbooks. They compete instead of collaborate. The room I was in this week is the opposite of that. And the agents and teams who get invited back, who keep showing up, who keep contributing, are the ones who level up the fastest.
For our clients across Western North Dakota, that matters. Because the strategies, systems, and insights coming out of these rooms get applied immediately to the deals we're running back home. The buyers we're representing benefit. The sellers we're listing benefit. The investors we're advising benefit.
What This Means on the Ground in the Bakken
Western North Dakota is not like the rest of the country. The Bakken moves on its own clock. Oil activity, rig counts, federal energy investment, labor flows tied to production. National headlines about rate cuts and inventory shortages often miss what's actually happening in Williston, Watford City, and Dickinson. Across our deals right now, we're seeing buyers move quickly on quality inventory and pass on anything overpriced or poorly maintained. Sellers who price correctly and market with reach are still hitting strong numbers. The teams combining national-level tools with hyper-local execution are the ones delivering real results.
The mastermind reinforced something I already knew. The future of real estate belongs to agents and teams who can operate at both levels at once. National platform, local expertise. Cutting-edge tools, on-the-ground knowledge. Big network, deep relationships.
The Bottom Line
The future of real estate is evolving fast, and collaboration is leading the way. The agents and teams sitting in the right rooms, building the right partnerships, and adapting to the right tools are the ones who'll define the next chapter of this industry.
That's the work we're doing at Proven Realty every single day. The masterminds, the partnerships, the systems, the technology. All of it gets applied directly to the buyers, sellers, and investors we serve across the Bakken.
If you're curious about the eXp model now that we have two of them, which one might fit your business, or what these industry shifts mean for your next move in Western North Dakota, let's connect. The market is moving fast. The right conversation can change everything.
