Investor panel on stage at eXpcon 2026 in Salt Lake City
eXpcon 2026 RecapSalt Lake City, Utah

Updated October 2026

At eXpcon 2026 in Salt Lake City, eXp Realty rolled out four new tools: AI of Choice, eXp Ready home-prep funding of up to $50K, ShowGo showing coverage, and Revenos Mortgage, a joint venture powered by Newrez. They were announced for agents, but every one of them lands on the people we serve: sellers getting a property ready, buyers lining up financing, and clients who need someone at a showing on short notice.

In a market as spread out as ours, where one week can mean a showing in Williston, a closing in Watford City, and a land walk outside Tioga, coverage and preparation are where deals are won or lost. That is the lens I brought home.

The Event

What is eXpcon, and why does a Williston broker fly to Salt Lake City for it?

eXpcon is the flagship annual conference hosted by eXp Realty. It brings together agents, brokers, team leaders, and industry partners from around the world for business training, keynotes, breakout sessions, and the company's biggest announcements of the year.

I go every year for the same reason I took the license exam in 2015 and finished an MBA: I am a student of this business first. Proven Realty is brokered by eXp, so whatever gets announced on that main stage shows up in how our team serves clients in Williams and McKenzie County within months. I would rather understand it in the room than read about it later.

This year was a whirlwind. I ended up on stage twice, which I did not plan on, and I came home with more notes than I can use in one quarter. Here is what matters for anyone buying, selling, or owning property out here.

For Sellers

What is eXp Ready, and how could up to $50K in home-prep funding help me sell?

eXp Ready gives eligible sellers access to up to $50K in home-prep funding to get a property market ready before it lists. Think paint, flooring, repairs, landscaping, the punch list that makes a buyer walk in and stop looking.

After more than 1,400 closings in this market, the pattern I trust is simple: the properties that sell fastest and cleanest are the ones that were ready on day one. The problem has always been that the seller who most needs to prep is often the one who does not want to float the cost before the sale. A program like this closes that gap.

I am not going to tell you every property needs $50K of work. Most don't. Some need a weekend and a dumpster. My job is to tell you which projects actually move your price in Williston or Watford City and which ones you'll never get back.

What this means for you

If you have been putting off selling because the property "isn't ready," that is now a conversation worth having. Funding details and eligibility matter, so ask before you assume it does or doesn't fit.

An article can't tell you whether eXp Ready makes sense for your property. Send me your address through our property valuation page and I'll give you my honest read on value, prep, and whether the funding is worth using.

For Buyers

What is Revenos Mortgage, and should buyers in North Dakota care?

Revenos Mortgage powered by Newrez, a joint venture announced at eXpcon 2026 in Salt Lake City
Revenos Mortgage, announced on the eXpcon 2026 main stage.

Revenos Mortgage is a new joint venture between eXp Realty and Newrez, one of the nation's top five mortgage lenders and servicers. The goal is to bring lending options, technology, and servicing together so buyers are supported through the whole homeownership journey, not just the closing table.

Here's my honest take: more choice in financing is good for buyers, and I will always tell clients to compare. A national option sits next to the local lenders who know how a Bakken pay stub or a seasonal income history reads. The right lender is the one who gets you to closing on terms you understand, and that answer can be different for a first home, a rental duplex, or a shop with acreage.

If rates are what's holding you back, read my breakdown of mortgage rates in 2026, and check ProvenAssumptions.com for listings with assumable loans, where you may be able to take over a seller's existing rate.

What this means for you

Buyers get one more option to put side by side when shopping for a loan. As Revenos rolls out, I'll confirm how it works for North Dakota purchases before recommending it to anyone.

For Everyone

How does ShowGo help when your agent is double-booked?

eXp ShowGo app for posting and picking up showing and open house coverage, announced at eXpcon 2026
ShowGo: need coverage, post it. Have availability, pick it up.

ShowGo lets an eXp agent post a showing or open house that needs coverage, and another eXp agent with availability picks it up. Agents can also set up a direct agreement when they already know who will handle it.

That matters more here than almost anywhere. Western North Dakota is big country. When a buyer flies in on a two-day trip to look at property in Williston and Watford City, or an out-of-state investor wants eyes on a commercial building this afternoon, nobody wants to hear "I can't get there until Thursday."

At Proven Realty, we already work as a team so a client is never stuck waiting on one person's calendar. ShowGo extends that idea across the whole eXp network, which helps when the client or the property is outside our backyard.

What this means for you

Fewer missed windows. If you're relocating, investing remotely, or just busy, the showing you need is easier to get on the calendar.

Behind the Scenes

What does "AI of Choice" actually mean for clients?

eXp AI of Choice: the AI tools agents already use, now connected to eXp, announced at eXpcon 2026
The AI you already know, now connected to eXp.

AI of Choice connects the AI assistants agents already use directly to eXp. No new app, no switching between tools. Agents keep working in the assistant they know, and it can now plug into their eXp workflow.

You will never log into this as a client. What you should notice is speed: faster answers, cleaner paperwork, quicker market reads. The part AI can't do is the judgment call on what your property is worth in a market that moves with the oil patch.

What this means for you

Less time waiting on admin, more time on the conversation that actually decides your outcome.

On Stage

What did I share on stage at eXpcon 2026?

Erik Peterson speaking on stage at eXpcon 2026
Sharing tactical lessons for investors with a packed room.

I was on stage twice this year. The first was a panel in meeting rooms 255B and C on how to win more listings and build an investor network and portfolio. Bryon Ellington moderated, and I sat alongside Sherwin Wray and Lauren Callaway, each of us walking through how we built our own investment portfolios.

The second I didn't see coming. Brandon Brittingham, Mailbox Money himself, needed to rest and recover, and I was asked to step in. I said yes, and got to share tactical lessons for investors with a packed room.

Nothing was being sold in either room. Just people who have done it explaining how. I believe there are enough seats at the table for everyone, and that's exactly how I approach investors in Western North Dakota, whether they're buying their first rental, a commercial building, industrial space, or land.

As an Institutional Investment Services Certified broker and 2024 Crexi Platinum Broker, investor work is a big part of what I do here. If you're thinking about building a portfolio in the Bakken, start with my guide on how to buy a property in North Dakota and my look at what's driving North Dakota property prices.

What this means for you

If you're an investor, you don't need to fly to Salt Lake City for this. Call me, and I'll give you the same advice I gave that room, tuned to our market.

Yes. I joined an investor panel on winning listings and building a portfolio, moderated by Bryon Ellington with Sherwin Wray and Lauren Callaway, and later stepped in on stage when Brandon Brittingham needed to rest.

Tools come and go. What doesn't change is that the people who win in this market are the ones who show up prepared, whether that's a seller with a ready property, a buyer with financing lined up, or an investor with a plan. Everything I saw in Salt Lake City points the same direction, and our team at Proven Realty is already putting it to work here at home.
